ROOM TO GROW

Gina Weir was at the end of her rope. She was a single mother of three young children, working two jobs and still not making ends meet. She had recently lost her much-loved mother and was battling alcohol abuse. “Renewing Management changed my life for the better,” she says.

Fast forward 10 years, and Gina is now the Property Manager at Cedar Ridge, overseeing 212 units, happily married, off government assistance, and working steadily to improve her life and the lives of her children.  “It’s Renewing Management,” she says simply. “The opportunities I’ve been given have opened up a new way for me. I’ve been given room to grow…grow as a person.”

Gina started simply as a resident of Cedar Ridge. As her life was spiraling downward, she got to know the Property Manager, who created a part-time cleaner position in order to give her a bit more financial stability. That job led to a full-time position helping administrate other properties and renovations around the state.

After a few years of working for Renewing Management, she took a role in the corporate office, but quickly learned she wasn’t cut out for a completely stationary office environment. She began filling in gaps around the state at different properties as needed, which gave her a lot of visibility into the company as a whole.

“I love that Renewing Management was still rather small when I started, but growing. There are so many opportunities. I love Renewing Management and the amazing people because it’s a very personal company, which is what keeps me hook, line and sinker. I’m not just a number. It was the family I needed at that time in my life to turn my life around.”

When the Property Manager position at Cedar Ridge opened up in 2018, Gina realized she had found her niche. Not only was she managing the apartments where her family still lived, but the flexibility of working just steps from her front door helped her invest in her kids in greater ways. “I could close the office at 5 PM and still coach my daughter’s softball team. We were already invested in this community,” she says. “Now I have the chance to help shape the direction it’s going. I really love what I do.”

Gina’s son recently graduated from high school and received a graduation card complete with a personal message from the president of Renewing Management. “We were surprised,” she says. “It wasn’t a form letter, it was very personal. This is an amazing company doing amazing things and I’m proud to be part of it.”

Gina’s son penned a note back: “Thank you for turning our lives around.”
